Trampoline and Tumbling Joel Ferrell 2013 Award Winners
The AAU Trampoline and Tumbling Committee is proud to present Brianna Stewart from Central AAU District and Derrick Weiss from the Indiana AAU District, with the 2013 Joel Ferrell Outstanding Performance Memorial Award. The Joel Ferrell Award is presented each year to an athlete who demonstrates outstanding athletic accomplishments and sportsmanship.
Brianna, 19, has been competing for eight (8) years and has won gold four (4) of the eight (8) years. She is a three (3) time All American and was selected for the AAU Memorial Scholarship in 2012. She competes with Effingham Academy and thoroughly enjoys AAU competition. Brianna is a sophomore at the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Derrick, 19, is a sophomore at Ivy Tech State College and majoring in Sports Psychology and Sports Medicine. He has made the AAU National Team two (2) times, named the All American for Trampoline in 2012, has won multiple gold medals in the AAU. He has participated with the AAU Trampoline and Tumbling program for about 10 years winning a first place title multiple times. In 2013 he was also named All American for Trampoline, Mini Trampoline and Rod Floor. In his spare time he coaches AAU Trampoline and Tumbling at GymTym as well as participating in his High School Marching Band, Track and Field and Football.
